AnewZ: Cross-Border Migration and International Legal Obligations in Türkiye

Selin Özgören was invited as a legal expert by AnewZ, an Azerbaijani news channel, to provide commentary on irregular migration through Türkiye — a topic at the intersection of international law, human rights, and state obligations. Drawing on her background in public international law and treaty practice, she analysed Türkiye's obligations under international instruments including the 1951 Refugee Convention and its Protocol, the interplay between domestic enforcement mechanisms and binding treaty commitments, and the broader implications for transit states under customary international law.

Selin Özgören served as an arbitrator at the 14th Istanbul Pre-Moot, held on 13–15 March 2026 — one of the most well-established preparatory competitions for the Willem C. She also delivered a speech on the Moot Alumni Association (MAA) during the opening ceremony, highlighting the role of the MAA in building a global network of international arbitration practitioners.

In Conversation with CITES: Regulating Trade in Wild Animals and Plants Beyond the Vanilla Orchid

Selin Özgören co-moderated an online panel event organised by the Moot Alumni Association (MAA) and the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, held on 6 March 2026. The event featured senior officials from the CITES Secretariat — including Ms. Sofie H. Flensborg, Chief of the Legal Unit, and Mr. Stavros Antoniadis, Programme Management Officer — and was co-moderated by Selin alongside Ms. Almira Wissenberg, doctoral researcher at Bucerius Law School. Prof. Dr. Stefan Kröll, Professor at Bucerius Law School and Director of the Willem C. Vis Moot, delivered the welcome address. Selin participated in her capacity as Co-Chair of the MAA International Liaisons Team, bringing a practitioner's perspective on the intersection of international trade law, environmental treaty obligations, and dispute resolution.
